Last '09 entry. WHAT TO WEAR ON NYE !

I can't tell if I can not fall asleep from one to many hot green teas or the fact that this year is ending, and 2010 is the new millennium ! All I know is New Years Eve is tomorrow..technically today on account that its already 4 AM.

New Years attire for the ladies: FLASHY please!
You don't have to bedazzle yourself with tons of sequin and big rocks. You can play up and down an outfit.

- Plain black dress

• A belt that stands out
• Sequined beret or headband (without the belt)
• Simple jewelery (earrings and rings)
• Platforms or heels
  
• OR Sheer lace tights
  

-Sequin

• If you wear a sequined dress, play it down with simple shoes, hair pulled back, and studded earrings. NO BIG JEWELERY
  
• Sequined leggings require a simple top that shows off your arms, a shirt with some skin! and pumps.
• Sequin mini skirts or shorts look adorable with a plain top, pantyhose, and boots.
  
• Any hair sequined hair accessory can be worn with a vest or a simple outfit, with high shoes or comfy boots.
  

-Jackets

• Leather jackets, blazers, military jackets, and even coats (depending where you are) would look stunning on NYE. Wearing any sort of jacket will make heads turn, especially when taking it off with an even flattering outfit underneath it! (I wouldn't wear a military jacket with a flashy dress, that's too much! )
  

-MAKEUP LOOKS (one or the other)

• Sparkly eyes (Urban Decay)
  
• Smokey eyes (Mac or Stila)
  
• False Lashes (Make Up For Ever)
  
• Tons of mascara and some gloss (Dior & Lancome)

If you don't wear much makeup, don't be scared to push the envelope on NYE !

Happy Holidays!

Holidays - Giving and getting is how I like to define it. Giving and getting can mean anything from the company of your family to receiving or giving luxury items ! I got some lovely presents this year :)

My twin sister got me the best of them all. A Michael Kors watch, the Ed Hardy perfume set, and a bag of candy (everyone knows I have a bigger sweet tooth then a little child)

I was honestly not expecting anything this year. Oh how I wish I went to NYC for my winter break, there is always next year!

Anyways..
My mom got me a facial and a massage package, which was lovely.
My grandparents gave me some cash which is always set aside for my makeup kit. I bought new eyelashes, liners, wipes, wands, and more for my kit.

Not gonna lie, our girl Rihanna is looking good. From a nudey photo on the cover of GQ magazine to her "Hard" music video. She is blowing up ! Her outfits are insane in the video, are celebrities trying to out-due Lady GaGa ?

From a makeup artists perspective

So I have been watching Fashion Tv on youtube and came across this LANVIL backstage hair and makeup video. Critiquing is what I do; as fabulous as this video seems the eye makeup look seemed a bit sloppy. As I observed the video I noticed each artists different method in using a wet black flash drive color. Thank goodness for Q-tips to correct any messes, what do you think of the video?

Rock N Roll, topless style

I noticed the new look in ads now are rock n roll tutus and topless models. Funny that I am seeing this..the shoot that I worked on with Julious G was the same look as some ads I've seen for example V Magazine.

Are these ads Hot or Not? My vote HOT !

I can tell you one thing, I can sit on youtube and find the most fascinating makeup tutorials, and account pixiwoo is my absolute favorite youtube tutorial to watch.

Art Basel 2009

I went to the Art Basel on Saturday and was amazed with most of the art I saw.
My favorite pieces were the colorful ones, on the other hand.. I saw some "art" that was not thrilling to me. It seems like some artists feel its okay to put something up that to others look like nothing. I feel like I can give a little child a canvas and paint and think it's the most genius thing out there.

A few drinks and friends, and we called this a night. I felt like a total Sex and the City gal.

Shoot with Julius Gregorio

I went to Tye Studios today and met up with photographer Julius Gregorio, SkinnyInters Kristin Ondocsin, our German model Zita and a wonderful stylist. I worked a few looks with Zita, starting very natural and ending with a rockstar black wet eye look.

First look: Natural, clean skin, mascara, nude lips.
Second look: Light gold eyes, no liner, mascara, purple lip, and heavier cheeks.
Third: Copper/Brown smokey eye, Brown liner, peach cheeks, and nude lips.
Fourth: Black shadow and liner, same face makeup and more contour.
Fifth: Black eyes with Vaseline for a shiny wet eye look.

As far as wardrobe Zita was topless practically the entire time with her hair flowing!
She did have a few outfit changes, which made the shoot.

We all busted our chops working this today, these photos are going to rock!

FlowerPower

I worked a hippy flower-power feel shoot a few days ago, I haven't had the time to blog about the look. We had a male and two female models for it. The feel of the shoot was 60's inspired so I gave the girls a natural golden eye with a pink/orange lip and flawless skin. As for the male model, we just kept him with great concealer and foundation. Here are a few photos from the shoot, there will be more soon.

Whats in your purse ?

Everyone knows a lady's purse is her weapon, whats in it makes the female on the outside. In this photo I have my glam tools, we'll start off with my Betsey Johnson Lipstick handbag. Everyone knows I switch up purses, but I have a feeling this is going to be my signature bag (bought yesterday)

In my purse I keep my beauty valuables. We'll start off with makeup! I am a makeup artist who feels naked with out make-up in her purse, so its a must to carry it with me. I have some MAC, Make Up For Ever, and Lancome products. Also, I have my Blackberry, itouch, and my Chanel wallet. We all know you can't be organized without a planner, its always been a must have in my purse. I never leave the house with out my sunglasses or my per-scripted Chanel glasses. I also carry my business cards with me, as well as hand-sanitizer for hygiene purposes. Speaking of hygiene I always try having a pack of gum or mints and perfume. A lady must always smell good ;)

Good morning, meeting Betsey Johnson !

I went to get my hair cut..and its pretty short for me at least. Its a choppy fun cut :)
Any-who, I will be heading out to the Aventura Mall today to see Betsey Johnson! I'm super excited!!


Also, yesterdays shoot could not have came out any better. We went for a Mr.Brightside, The Killers feel shoot. With a guy and a girl love story. Can't wait to post pictures for you all<3 www.juliaariellephotography.com !

So, I decided to continue this post through out my day, I got home not long ago from the Aventura mall, and yes met Betsey Johnson :) She was such a sweetheart. We talked for a few minutes and I was telling her that one of my goals was to work her show and that I will see her again, and she just kept saying "COME TO NEW YORK!, DO IT!" ..she kept complimenting my twin, mom, and me. Shes fabulous.

For those of you who did not know, New York designer and fashionista Betsey Johnson will be in the Aventura Mall this Saturday, November 21st for a meet and greet in her store located in the mall. She will be celebrating her latest collection from 6 to 7p.m. COUNT ME THERE!!!

Headbands

I'm not a fan of the Gossip Girl headband look. However, when it comes down to high fashion I am beyond obsessed with sequenced stretchy headbands and black netted bow head bands. And whoever said headbands go on the head and not around it..are definitely mistaken. You can take ribbon and tie it around your head into a bow for a chic look. I personally love hair accessories but not when they're too bulky.

Thought I should mention that I'm on a hunt for this new Beret, it needs to be mine ASAP

The girls and I worked a shoot early Saturday morning and I wanted to emulate the House Of Dior, Galliano look. I've mentioned it a few times on my blog how much I love that look and finally got to work with model Rain Miller and photographer Julia Arielle. Naked Cosmetics

Whoever read up on my last few blogs knows that I have mentioned going to the Artist Summit a few weeks ago. When I went there I played and purchased some naked cosmetics. The makeup product is made of natural elements those that do not include talc, oil, or wax products that can damage your skin.

I find it super interesting that you can basically make anything out of this product. Its loose powdery shimmers can be used as eyeshadow, liner, bronzer, NAIL POLISH, LIP GLOSS, and even TEMPORARY HIGHLIGHTS. I find this extremely fascinating, because I never thought something so generic can be put in use in such fabulous ways.






Eyeshadow: you can use it wet or dry, wet for harsh shadow look. I find wetting the product looks better, then going on top with the same powder dry for a more exotic eye.

Eyeliner: wet an angle brush to a desired shadow powder color and use as eyeliner!

Lips: using a brush or your finger you can use the product by itself or with a clear gloss.

Bronzer: mix with lotion and apply it on your face as bronzer.

Nail polish: mix with clear nail polish for a fascinating color, you can even match your eye makeup to your nail polish, amazing.

Temporary hair highlights: Apply color on the root to the end of your hair and spray with hair spray to set the color.

These is just genius is all I have to say.

Skinny Intern

Most of us bloggers read other bloggers sites for amusement and inspiration. I got to work a photoshoot with one of my favorite photographers Heather Talber and got to work a shoot with Kristin Ondocsin blogger of Skinny Intern. We shot in Miami at some area with a ton of rusty tanks laying around and kept relocating. We also shot at some warehouse. It was an exciting shoot, I cant wait to see the photos. Here are some photos I quickly snapped on my phone.




The makeup look was a lightly winged eyeliner with natural false lashes, pink lips and cheeks. The look resembled a 50's angelic look. Very innocent and beautiful. The second makeup look I gave Kristin a dark raspberry lip-color and went stronger with her blush.

Busy Busy Bee

A few things!

I worked Funkshion Fashion Week, it was super exciting to work. I worked Richie Rich's show, the Red Dress Fashion Show, Rio Soul, and Fragolina Pompadour. I was backstage for Nicole Millers show, but didn't work it. I got to meet Richie Rich, hes fun and fabulous! Also, I got to work on a familiar face ;) for those who watch Americas Next Top Model, I worked on model Onchel's face from Cycle 7 of ANTM.

Luckily, I am good friends with photographer Rich Jackson; he snapped away some photos backstage.
It seems like I am always waiting for my cds to arrive. Speaking of late arriving cds, I just got mine from photographer Edward Le Poulin. We worked a shoot out in NYC a while ago.. this cd has been going around in circles in the post-office.

As for today, I will be heading off to Miami, and will be working with fabulous blogger Skinny Intern and photographer Heather Talbert.

I promise I will have all my photos of all the shoots and shows I've recently worked on my website soon! SO KEEP POSTED <3
